Applications are live for the 2026-2027 NWT Youth Ambassadors Program!
About the NWT Youth Ambassadors Program
-
The NWT Youth Ambassador Program gives youth an opportunity to build leadership skills through participation at special events and volunteer assignments.
-
You can apply in three ways: online application, submitting a written application, and by verbal application
-
Selection is based on community involvement, commitment to a healthy lifestyle, and a reflection on how the NWT Youth Ambassador Program will help them in the future.
-
Youth must be between 16 and 22 years old as of January 1, 2027
-
NWT Youth Ambassador participants will take part in an exciting and meaningful leadership experience. Youth Ambassadors will begin with an in‑person orientation event in Yellowknife, where they will learn about northern ambassadorship and how to proudly represent the Northwest Territories. The orientation will also include workshops on healthy lifestyle choices, such as nutrition and mental health awareness, as well as practical life skills, including goal setting, budgeting, and public speaking.
-
Following orientation, selected Youth Ambassadors will travel as a team to Québec City to attend the 2027 Canada Winter Games, where they will volunteer with the Host Society. This experience offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a national event, build leadership and teamwork skills, and represent the NWT on a national stage.
