NWT Youth Centers Receive Funding
Yellowknife (July 19, 2010) - The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is investing $500,000 to assist with the operating costs of 34 youth centers in the Northwest Territories (NWT).
Minister of Municipal and Community Affairs Robert C. McLeod said the Youth Centers Initiative funding will allow the organizations to focus on developing quality programs to shape and strengthen our future leaders.
“Youth are one of our greatest and most valued assets,” said Minister McLeod. “Across the NWT, youth centers provide them with the opportunity to grow into future leaders and help us develop the sustainable, vibrant, and safe communities that we envision for our future.”
A list of 2010-2011 funding recipients is attached.

Through its investment in youth centers, the GNWT is working to improve the positive programming for youth. Investing in youth and strengthening the programs and services available to them will work to build strong individuals, families, and communities in the NWT as envisioned in the 16th Assembly’s Vision of Northerners Working Together.
