GNWT Thanks Recreation Leaders
YELLOWKNIFE (September 10, 2010) – Today is Recreation Leaders Day. Minister Responsible for Sport and Recreation, Robert C. McLeod, encourages all NWT residents to celebrate and recognize the efforts of the dedicated volunteers and professionals involved in the planning and delivery of quality recreation programs and services across the NWT.
“Recreation coordinators and volunteers keep our parks, facilities, and trails well maintained and safe,” he said. “They are the backbone of our recreation programs, which help us all lead active lives and build strong, healthy communities. On Recreation Leaders Day, I encourage all NWT residents to thank them for their hard work and dedication.”
Through new programs like the Regional Youth Sport Events program and the Active After School program, the GNWT is expanding recreation and sport programming to support the 16th Assembly’s vision, Northerners Working Together.
