Proud2bNWT Youth Website Launched
YELLOWKNIFE (January 11, 2010) – Northwest Territories residents aged 15 to 30 have a new one-stop shop for all youth-related programs and services offered by the territorial government. Proud2bNWT, a website for youth in the NWT, was officially launched today by the Government of the Northwest Territories.
Minister Responsible for Youth Robert C. McLeod says that the website will help young people find programs and services available to them quickly and efficiently.
“The GNWT has a wide variety of programs and services targeted at youth, but it can be a challenge to find them because they are scattered across multiple departmental websites,” said Minister McLeod. “With Proud2bNWT, all the programs and services youth in the NWT should know about are just a click away.”
Proud2bNWT provides information on a variety of programs and services such as arts and culture, awards and bursaries, careers and employment, health and wellness, sports and recreation, and much more. The Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Youth Ambassadors and Traditional Games participants will also be posting stories on Proud2bNWT during their time at the 2010 Winter Games.
Through its investment in Proud2bNWT, the GNWT is working to improve access to youth-related programs and services. Investing in youth and strengthening awareness around the programs and services available to them will work to build strong individuals, families, and communities in the NWT as envisioned in the 16th Assembly’s Vision of Northerners Working Together.
