Volunteer Organization Development Contribution

What is it?

The Volunteer Organization Development Contribution provides funding for training events, workshops, courses, or other learning opportunities that help voluntary organizations and volunteers to meet their goals and objectives. Non-profit volunteer organizations can apply for reimbursement of expenses to assist with the fees and travel costs related to training.

Available Funding

Funding will be provided for training events, workshops, courses, or other learning opportunities that help voluntary organizations and volunteers to meet their goals and objectives. Approved events held in the NWT may be reimbursed for up to $4,000 towards eligible expenses. Approved events outside the NWT may receive up to $2,000 towards of eligible expenses. Applications must be received 6 weeks prior to the organization’s development event.

Eligible Expenses

Funding may be provided for the following:

  • Registration fees for workshops, training or courses;
  • Facilitation, instruction, and consultation fees;
  • Travel cost directly related to attending or hosting an organizational development event;
  • Accommodation and meals directly related to attending or hosting an organizational development event; and
  • Rental cost for an event or meeting venue.

Additional expenses may be approved in advance at the discretion of MACA.

Ineligible Expenses

The following expenses are not eligible:

  • Core funding for voluntary organizations;
  • Salaries for staff of the voluntary sector;
  • Fees, wages or similar payments to event participants;
  • Expenses related to conduct fundraising events; or
  • Capital or renovation costs.
