2022 Planned Elections

City of Yellowknife

October 17, 2022;

General Election

Elections for the full council: (mayor and eight councillors).

for a four-year term; nominations open September 6, 2022

 

Hamlets

December 12, 2022;

General Elections will be held in eight hamlets with nominations opening October 24, 2022:

    • Aklavik –half of the councillors (four) to a two-year term;

    • Enterprise –half of the councillors (three) to a two-year term;

    • Fort McPherson – mayor and half of the councillors (four) to a two-year term;

    • Fort Providence – half of the councillors (four) to a three-year term;

    • Fort Resolution – half of the councillors (three) to a two-year term;

    • Sachs Harbour – mayor and half of the councillors (three) to a two-year term;

    • Tuktoyaktuk –half of the councillors (four) to a two-year term; and

    • Ulukhaktok – mayor and half of the councillors (four) to a two-year term.

Note:

Municipal Elections in the Northwest Territories are conducted in accordance with provisions under the Local Authorities Elections Act. These municipalities have the option of changing the length of their term and follow either the Charter Communities Act, the Cities, Towns and Villages Act, the Hamlets Act, or the Tlicho Community Government Act.
