Basic Emergency Management in the Northwest Territories

Basic Emergency Management in the Northwest Territories (BEM-NWT) was recently added to MACA Learn's course offerings in spring 2024. The online, self-directed, and free course provides a basic understanding of emergency management concepts, including principles and terminology. It forms the foundation for all other emergency management training in the territories. However, it is not intended to provide specific response procedures for various emergency scenarios.

Northwest Territories-Defensive Firefighter Training

The Community Government Learning and Development (CGLD) division is developing a training curriculum and associated content for defensive firefighters in the Northwest Territories. Northwest Territories-Defensive Firefighter Training (NWT-DFT) will be piloted in fall 2024 with NWT defensive fire chiefs. It is expected to be accessible in communities starting spring 2025.
