Community Government Learning and Development (CGLD) supports community government staff in day-to-day operations.

Occupational courses

Many courses offered are for community government staff to work in areas such as:

These are traditional classroom style courses or available online. To take these courses all participants are required to register on MACA Learn regardless of format (online or classroom).

Essential workplace skills

The Government of Canada in consultation with industry has established a set of common workplace skills that all Canadians need to be effective in the workplace.

Essential skills help workers perform the tasks required by their occupation and provide workers with a foundation for learning other skills. The essential skills are:

CGLD offers essential workplace skills training and courses by subject area on MACA Learn. Learning methods include online self directed courses and webinars. Essential workplace skills are also incorporated into workshops and other CGLD learning initiatives.

All community government operational learning can be coordinated through your region’s Learning and Development Advisor. Advisors can also assist human resource professionals to develop performance management learning goals using CGLD essential workplace learning courses.
