Community Government Tool Kit
Community Infrastructure Planning
Effective April 1, 2007 all community governments in the NWT are responsible for the planning, design, financing, construction and implementation of community public infrastructure in their community. Using a variety of funding sources, including an annual capital formula allocation from MACA, Gas Tax and others, community governments can plan and construct infrastructure that meets local needs and priorities. MACA provides assistance and support to community governments as they develop, monitor and regularly update their five year capital investment plans to reflect progress and address key and emerging needs. For guidelines related to the community infrastructure formula allocation, please refer to the Community Public Infrastructure Funding Policy.
