Water and Waste Management
Water systems quality is critical to the health of a community. The instruction presented in this program will ensure community personnel are able to provide safe supply and distribution of water to community residents, and appropriate disposal of waste.

Training offers advanced knowledge in the design, construction, operation and management of water works, waste water treatment and disposals works and solid waste site works.

Course Descriptions
Small System Water Treatment Plant Operator
The Small Systems course is designed to ensure that the student is knowledgeable in the following areas of Water and Water Treatment: Sources of Water, Characteristics of Water, Purpose of Chlorine, How Chlorine Works, How to Test the Chlorine Residual, Inspecting and Maintaining Pumps, Safety, Sewage Lagoon and Wetland Treatment Processes, Waste Disposal Options, Operations and Maintenance Procedures, Record Keeping and Water License Requirements.
Class I Water Treatment Plant Operator
The Class I course is designed to ensure that the student is knowledgeable in the following areas of Water and Water Treatment: Micro-Biological Characteristics of Water, Physical and Chemical Characteristics of Water, Coagulation and Flocculation, Jar Tests, Sedimentation, Water Filtration, Iron and Manganese Control, Chlorination, Sampling, Records, Safety, Security.
Class II Water Treatment Plant Operator
The Class II course is designed to ensure that the student is knowledgeable in the following areas of Water and Water Treatment: Water Treatment, Centrifugal Pumps, Control and Instrumentation, Cross Connection Control and Backflow Prevention, Safety, Emergency Preparedness, Sampling, Administration.
