SERVICE ROOM CONSTRUCTION

In accordance with the 1995 National Building Code Section 3.6.2.1.a one hour fire separation shall be provided around all service rooms including mechanical rooms, electrical rooms, fan rooms, pump rooms and enclosures for mechanical and electrical equipment in crawlspaces. The enclosure shall include the walls and ceiling of the mechanical service room and the floor where there is an occupancy below.
This requirement applies even if the mechanical service rooms and the entire floor area of the building are sprinklered throughout in accordance with 1995 NBC Section 3.6.2.2. (4).
